For one of my subject options, I picked Fashion and Surface.
The option project was to create an 'Adornment'. We were also given starting points, an architectural movement and an artist.
I was given Paul Klee and the movement was Post-Modernism.
Looking at some of the buildings I researched and one piece in particular by Paul Klee (Ad Parnassum), I made some marks. These marks were made with printing, oil based, inks on glass, rolled out and then scraped away with card revealing some of the glass which made it look like windows.
Taking sections from each sheet of marks I made, I created some symmetrical patterns on Photoshop. I did this by copying the image several times but flipping it horizontally and vertically where they met.
This pattern is one which most resembles a building, I love the detail and the lines created in what one might say are windows.
Very similar to the first one, however I used the initial image in a different orientation.
Last but not least, this pattern is one in which I managed to add colours to. The colours came from Paul Klee's colour palette. This will be the print I will use on my paper dress.
